5 Signs It’s Time To Renovate Your Kitchen

Are you starting to feel as though your kitchen has seen better days? Perhaps you’re getting fed up with the decor, or maybe it’s just no longer fit for purpose.

Whatever the reason, if having a complete new kitchen installation is not on the cards, then it could be that a kitchen renovation could be just what you need to breathe new life into the heart of your home.

In this blog we explore the several factors that might mean your kitchen isn’t performing well or is out of date and we look at the five major signs that it’s time to renovate your kitchen.

1. The needs of your family have changed

The purpose of a kitchen within a family home can differ greatly from one family to another. For couples it could be a place to indulge a love of cooking and socialise with friends, while for large families, it’s a space where the ability to cook mass meals on a regular basis is a must. The one thing about families is that needs change as time moves on, so what was once the right space for you, may now have to change.

2. You hate your kitchen

This is quite an obvious reason why you might want to renovate your kitchen, but it’s an important one. Your kitchen should be the warm and inviting heart of your home – a place where families can enjoy spending time together. Ask yourself, if you were to make the space more attractive, by changing the lighting and decor, for example, would you want to spend more time in it?

3. The appliances are outdated

Obviously kitchen appliances only work well for a certain amount of time. If yours are holding you back when it comes to getting jobs done in and around the kitchen, then it may be time to replace them. Newer, more efficient, models come on to the market on a regular basis and could also save on your energy use, as well as time, so it’s definitely something worth looking into.

4. Lack of storage

If you’ve found that things are piling up on the worktops and stopping you from utilising your prep space, then it could be that you are running low on storage space. If having a good clearout of unwanted items doesn’t work, then perhaps it’s time to think about a kitchen renovation which could make the most of the space and provide you with the storage you need.

5. You’re planning to sell your home

It’s often been said that a home is sold on the quality of the kitchen and bathrooms. For this reason, updating your kitchen is a great idea if you are looking to sell. It doesn’t have to be an expensive renovation, but by making a few touch ups here and there, the return on your investment can be great in terms of getting a sale at the price you’re looking for.

Refurbishment Or A Full New Kitchen?

There are, of course, many factors to consider when deciding whether you need a kitchen refurbishment, or a brand new kitchen in your home. One is budget, another is whether the renovation would be worth the time and effort that it takes to do it. Will it make enough of a difference? If you are unsure, then it’s always a good idea to talk through your options with an expert.
