If you’re looking for the perfect kitchen for your home, then it’s important to make its design all about you, your home and your family. In the search for complete perfection, no off the shelf solution will do. Every aspect of a custom made kitchen should be best suited to your needs.
It may be that you’re a budding chef, in which case, plenty of prep space and room for the right appliances is vital. Perhaps socialising is your thing (and of course the kitchen is the best place to do it), so, a lovely large island with plenty of seating space and sumptuous lighting could be more like your idea of kitchen heaven.
For large families, space could be the vital factor, as a result, the different areas of the kitchen should be given lots of thought. It’s because so many homes have different uses for their kitchen that often our customers will look to have a custom kitchen designed and installed.
Of course, you will be excited to see the final result of your kitchen refurbishment and for this reason, many people ask us how long it takes to build a custom kitchen. In this article we look to explore the steps which go towards making your ideal custom kitchen a reality.
Stage One: The Design Process (4-6 weeks)
The build of any custom kitchen should start with the design process and this begins with an initial chat with one of our kitchen design experts. We will book you in for a free, no obligation 30 minute kitchen discovery session which will explore every aspect of how you want your custom kitchen to look and feel. Some of the aspects we will chat through with you will include the following:
- Style and finish of furniture
- Cabinetry and worktops
- Space and Storage
- Colour schemes
- Lighting
- Appliances
After we have a very clear idea of what it is you are looking for, we will set to work in creating your custom kitchen design. Using our state of the art computer aided design software, your new custom kitchen will be brought to life and presented to you in a way in which you can get a real visual picture of how it will look in your home.
At this point you will be given detailed plans, perspectives and a fully itemised quote. You will also have the chance to make any changes to the design of your custom kitchen to ensure it is perfect for you. Once you have agreed on your kitchen design, it’s time to take a deposit, order the parts and give you a date for your custom kitchen installation.
Stage 2 : The Custom Kitchen Build Process (6-8 weeks)
Custom kitchens, by their very nature, may take longer to build because of the specific measurements and cuts which are required. There may also be different factors to consider, such as lead times for certain materials, whether any additional building work is required, or how long it may take to install extra lighting, splashbacks, or worktops.
The amount of plastering, painting and decorating required could be a factor, too. However, in general, a custom kitchen will take around 6-8 weeks to build after the design process has been followed through and agreed.
